Description:
The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to enter into a contractual agreement with a successful bidder and select a suitable contractor to carry out the following work: To conduct a national survey of costs faced by TB patients and their households, including survey report writing, scientific publication and dissemination of the survey findings.BACKGROUNDTuberculosis patients often incur large costs for care seeking, diagnosis, and treatment. The costs include not only direct medical costs for health care expenditure but also direct non-medical costs such as transportation, food or nutritional supplements and income loss. This heavy financial burden of TB affects patients- accessibility and affordability to health services and compliance with TB treatment. Therefore, to inform policies to improve the accessibility of the services, it is necessary to understand the magnitude of the financial burden and its main cost drivers. WHO is recommending a national survey to be carried out in each country to assess the situation. By May 2023, 29 countries completed the first survey, 18 first surveys are ongoing and 4 are planned according to WHO Global TB Programme[1]. These survey...
